VRS-RAPID exercise session at "Politecnico di Torino" - Italy (May 21, 2019)

May 21, 2019

Valerio Mascolino, PhD Candidate in Nuclear Engineering at Virginia Tech, conducted a seminar on the RAPID Code System and workshop with hands-on exercises at "Politecnico di Torino"(PoliTO), a technical university in Torino, Italy. The workshop was held as part of an exercise session for the "Fundamentals of Nuclear Engineering" course at PoliTO, in collaboration with Professor Sandra Dulla and Dr. Roberto Bonifetto.

During the workshop, around 170 students from the Bachelor of Science in Energy Engineering participated to the class by performing a set of exercises using the VRS-RAPID web-interface for RAPID, developed at Virginia Tech. This was the first time VRS-RAPID was tested with such a large number of users. Students were then invited to write a short essay commenting the results as part of the course. In addition, students from PoliTO will be given the possibility to use VRS-RAPID for their Bachelor's final project.

This workshop set a milestone for a lasting collaboration between VT and PoliTO.
